The 2020/2021 Premier League season is just a couple of days away. This upcoming season will be quite different as the world is still facing the coronavirus pandemic which has affected the scheduling of last season as well as this season, with the season starting on September 12th when Arsenal travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham. Fans are still not allowed into the stadiums and for all the teams, preparations have been difficult with little pre-season games on their belts. The transfer window will still be open until October, as teams are still trying to sort out their transfer targets. A very unique season indeed. Nevertheless, the new season is upon us so here is a preview of the new league season and where each team could potentially finish at the end. WEST BROMWICH ALBION. Newcastle United. Potential Finish: 19th. Final Position: 13th Steve Bruce was appointed following the departure of Rafa Benítez. It was an unpopular choice as Steve Bruce have not managed a Premier League team in four years and Benítez was a popular figure on Tyneside. The former Sunderland manager was able to shut down his critics as the Magpies finished comfortably in mid-table without any fear of relegation. The football was not pleasing for everyone with Newcastle playing an ultra-defensive style of play and only scored 38 goals. Only Norwich, Watford and Crystal Palace scored less goals. Allan Saint-Maximin gave Newcastle fans some excitement with his trickery while Joelinton has been a massive flop following his £40 million pound move from Hoffenheim. There seems to be changes going on at Newcastle with a massive takeover from a Saudi consortium which means that Steve Bruce will be fighting to keep his job next season if the takeover goes through. The Premier League will make it's return on the 9th of August and we continue the preview of the upcoming season with the next seven teams based on their potential final position come May next year. Burnley. Final Position: 13th No one expected Burnley to replicate what they did in 2017/18 when they finished 7th and qualified for Europe for the first time in 50 years. Despite getting eliminated very early, they were poor last season and were in the relegation dogfight last season but managed to stay up, finishing 15th.  They have brought in Jay Rodgríuez and Erik Pieters and have let go of Tom Heaton and Stephen Ward. Sean Dyche's will trouble teams throughout the season and while they are not catchy on the eye, they are one of the lowest ranked teams in terms of goals and possession, they are effective at what they do, which will give them a mid-table finish this season. The Bundesliga is still on break and there was no Serie A action with the Coppa Italia this weekend leaving just action from the Premier League and La Liga. Here are the highlights from the weekend. David Saves United Manchester United got their first win against teams in the top 6 in Tottenham, beating the Lilywhites 1-0 at Wembley on Sunday. An end-to-end game, United got their moment when Paul Pogba laid a ball for Marcus Rashford, which the Manchester native converted just before halftime. Spurs responded in the second half but David de Gea was the guy that sealed the points for United making 11 saves to keep United's winning streak going under Ole Gunnar Solskjær to 5 in the league and takes them six points behind 4th placed Chelsea, level on points with Arsenal who are 5th while Spurs lose ground on Liverpool and Manchester City. One-third of the Premier League season is already done so far with more twist and turns to come. With what we have seen so far this season, here are the winners and losers of the Premier League. So far. Winners: Manchester City It wouldn't surprise many if Manchester City go on to win the title as they are the team to beat this season. However, some believed that they would drop off this season like we've seen from past defending champions. The defending champions are top of the Premier League with 32 points having improved so much this season thanks to their improved defence with the centre-back pairing of Aymeric Laporte and John Stones,  and the form of Bernardo Silva, who has stepped up in Kevin De Bruyne's absence with injury. With European football taken place during mid-week, league action in the Premier League resumed with Matchday 6. Fulham played Watford to a 1-all draw at Craven Cottage at the 12:30 kick-off. Six games where played at the 3pm kick-off time which included Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City. Liverpool and Manchester City got easy wins while Manchester United dropped points against Wolves. Newcastle United against Crystal Palace was goalless, Leicester City beat Huddersfield 3-1 while Burnley got their first win of the season with a remarkable 4-0 win over Bournemouth.
