Wednesday UCL Recap

From groups E to H to groups A to D for the Champions League on Wednesday. Liverpool beat Red Star while PSG and Napoli shared the points. Spurs remain winless so far getting a draw against PSV while Barcelona beat Inter. Dortmund beat Atletico, Porto beat Lotomotiv Moscow, Monaco got a draw and Schalke against Galatasaray was goalless. Here are the talking from Wednesday.

Spurs are in deep trouble

Spurs managed to top their group last season having the likes of Real Madrid and Dortmund. This season, they're in danger of getting eliminated from the group stages. Losing their two games, a win against PSV was a must but could muster a 2-2 draw. Hirving Lozano was a menace causing havoc on Spurs scoring a goal and winning a penalty that got Hugo Lloris sent off when Spurs were 2-1 up. For Spurs, they have to hold on to their winning position in games which was seen against Inter and with only a point from three games, they must beat PSV and Inter in keeping their slim chances of getting through alive and their chances are slim.

Group C got interesting

There was a lot of drama with group C. Liverpool spanked Red Star 4-0 at Anfield while PSG came from behind to get a 2-2 at home against Napoli. This puts Liverpool top of the group with 6 points followed by Napoli with 5 and PSG with 4. Certainly living up as the most difficult group, Liverpool and PSG are still favourites to go through but Napoli have showed that they're no pushovers and still have a chance of going through. With PSG going to Naples in their next game and with Liverpool yet to come, a margin of error from anyone one of these three could decide who goes through or not in this group.

BVB destroy the Atleti Wall

Borussia Dortmund's front line have been wowing people this season and they may have done their most convincing performance so far. They hammered Atletico Madrid 4-0 at the Westfalenstadion which is Atletico's worst defeat under Diego Simeone. A brace from Raphaël Guerreiro and goals from Axel Witsel and Jadon Sancho ensured Dortmund take top spot of the game with only them, Barcelona and Juventus being teams to get maximum points from their three UCL games. Lucien Favre's side remain unbeaten and have showed no signs of slowing down. Yet.

No Messi, No Problem

With Messi out for three weeks, the question for Barça is can they step up in the Argentine's absence? The answer was yes. Barcelona managed to get a 2-0 win against Inter to remain top and keep their perfect start to the competition intact. The Catalans managed to hold off Inter and their marksman Mauro Icardi as Inter could only get two shots on target with goals from Rafinha and Jordi Alba for the hosts. A win against Inter at the San Siro while Inter are still in a good position with 6 points already and Spurs dropping points.
