Nominees for the FIFPro XI
Award season in football continues with FIFA releasing the names of nominees for the FIFPro XI of the year. 55 players were nominated from all areas on the field for their exploits from the past season. From the nominees of goalkeepers, Real Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois is the favorite to get the nod given his fantastic display at the World Cup where he was awarded the Golden Glove award. He does face strong competition in David De Gea, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Gianluigi Buffon and Keylor Navas.
In Midfield, Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is the headliner given he's part of the Final Three. The Croatian has been at his best this for both club and country winning the Champions League and the Golden Ball award at the World Cup. Other nominees include N'golo Kante, Ivan Rakitic, Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard and Paul Pogba.
In Attack, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were included as well as Mohamed Salah with his record breaking 32 league goals last season. World Cup Golden Boot winner Harry Kane and Wonderkid Kylian Mbappe were also nominated including Sadio Mane, Neymar, Antonie Griezmann and Romelu Lukaku.
The Final XI will be announced on the 24th of September at FIFA's THE BEST Football awards in London.
