 Liverpool run riot at Bergamo

Liverpool, after winning their first two games in the Champions League, travelled to Bergamo to face Serie A side Atalanta in a clash that would be decisive for both teams and their clashes to go through. With players unavailable for both sides due to injury, the game looked pretty with some fancying Gasperini's side to take the win over Jurgen Klopp. Liverpool eventually won the game, and it was not even close. The Reds spanked Atalanta 5-0 with goals from Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and a hat-trick from Diogo Jota, who came in for Roberto Firmino. Jurgen Klopp's side exploited so much space that came from Atalanta, taking 15 shots with 12 on target. Despite that, Atalanta still managed to find some chances with Duvan Zapata having the best chance for the Bergamo side whose shot hit the post. However, Liverpool took much control of the game and left Italy with their best performance of the season so far. This puts them top of Group D with nine points from three points and are yet to concede a goal in the Champions League this season, giving them an edge to qualify early for the knockout stages. As for Atalanta, they are level on points with Ajax as both sides are on four points. They will face Liverpool again at Anfield after the international break but their remaining games against Ajax and Midtjylland are going to be important for their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages.

All to play for in Group H

Group H looks like it was going to be between Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and RB Leipzig for the Round of 16 while Istanbul Basaksehir were out of the conversation, as this was their first season in the Champions League. Well, it looks like Istanbul has thrown a spanner in who decides to go through after beating Manchester United 2-1 at the Fatih Terim Stadium on Wednesday. Goals from Demba Ba and Edin Visca gave the Turkish side their first two goals in the group stage before Anthony Martial pulled one back. United was unable to get an equalizer as Basaksehir get their first-ever win in the Champions League. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig faced Paris Saint-Germain, a recap of last season's semifinal. The Parisians opened the scoring from Angel Di Maria beat the Argentine missed a penalty to double PSG's lead. That turned out to be costly as Christopher Nkunku, who played for PSG, scored against his former club to level the score before halftime. Leipzig were awarded a penalty in the second half, which was converted by Emil Forsberg, giving the Bundesliga side the lead. PSG had two players sent off before the end of the game, as Idrissa Gueye and Presnel Kimpembe were given their marching order as Leipzig beat last year's finalists. This puts Leipzig level on points with Manchester United as both have six points while PSG is on three points. Level with Istanbul Basaksehir.

Madrid edge past Inter

After getting just one point from their two games played, Real Madrid knew that anything less than a win against Inter Milan who be catastrophe in their chances of advancing to the knockout stages. Inter, on the other hand, have just two points after two draws and were without striker Romelu Lukaku. Zidane's side opened the scoring from Karim Benzema, capitalizing on an error from Achraf Hakimi before Sergio Ramos doubled Madrid's lead from a header. It was a milestone goal for the Madrid defender, scoring his 100th goal for Los Blancos. Inter quickly got one back thanks to Lautaro Martinez to put the score at 2-1 before halftime. Ivan Perisic put Inter back on level but Rodrygo gave Madrid the winner in the 80th minute, giving Madrid a 3-2 win. With Gladbach's incredible 6-0 win over Shakhtar, Gladbach are on top with five points, Madrid and Shakhtar are on four points while Inter are bottom with two points. It's still all to play for in Group B as each side still has a chance so the remaining three games are going to be vital.
