FA Cup Quarterfinals

FA Cup semi-finals: Man Utd face Chelsea, Arsenal meet Man City ...

The FA Cup made its return this past weekend for the quarterfinals of the competition. Manchester United faced Norwich City on Saturday at Carrow Road. The Red Devils took the lead fom Odion Ighalo before Todd Cantwell scored the equalizer for the Canaries. However, Timm Klose received a straight red card for a foul on Ighalo, forcing Norwich to go into extra time with ten men. Harry Maguire scored the winner in the 118th minute for United as they progressed into the semifinals. They will face Chelsea in the semifinals as the Blues beat Leicester City 1-0 courtesy of Ross Barkley. Arsenal's run in the cup continues, defeating Sheffield United 2-1 with Dani Ceballos scoring the winner. However, they have the daunting task of facing Manchester City as the defending champions beat Newcastle United 2-0 at St. James Park. The semifinals will take place on the 18th to 19th of July.

La Liga Action

Real Madrid beat Espanyol to go two points clear at top of LaLiga

There was another twist in the title race in La Liga this past weekend as Barcelona dropped points against Celta Vigo, drawing the game 2-2. Luis Suàrez scored a brace for the defending champions but Iago Aspas scored in the 88th minute, giving a massive opportunity for Real Madrid. Something that they did, beating Espanyol thanks to Casemiro as Los Blancos now lead the title by two points. Atlético Madrid's hunt for Champions League football next season were further enhanced beating Alavés 2-1 at home. Villarreal jumped into 5th in the table, beating fellow European hopefuls Valencia 2-0. Leagnes, Mallorca and Espanyol all lost this weekend and with Celta now eight points ahead with six games remaining, they need points and hope Celta drop points as well.

Bundesliga Final Day

German Bundesliga suspended over coronavirus

The Bundesliga reached its conclusion on Saturday with the title already wrapped up but with the hunt for the Champions League and surviving relegation still on the cards. Bayern completed their fantastic season with a strong 4-0 win against Wolfsburg at home as Manuel Neuer hoisted the Meisterschale. Borussia Dortmund did not end the season well as they lost 4-0 at home against Hoffenheim. Timo Werner scored a brace in his last game for RB Leipzig as they beat Augsburg 2-1. Borussia Mönchengladbach got Champions League football for next season over Bayer Leverkusen with Gladbach winning their own game 2-1 against Hertha while Leverkusen finished 5th, two points off Gladbach. Werder Bremen's hope of survival will go the Promotion/Relegation playoff as they beat FC Köln 6-1 while Fortuna Düsseldorf were automatically relegated from the Bundesliga after losing 3-0 to Union Berlin, who had a great debut campaign in the German top flight.

Serie A Action

Inter Milan - Football - BBC Sport

Serie A continued this weekend as Inter Milan and Lazio won their games to close the gap on Juventus. Lazio bounced back from losing to Atalanta, beating Fiorentina 2-1 thanks to goals from Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto. Inter, on the other hand, scored two goals in the six minutes of the game with Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni scoring to keep Inter in the title race. The biggest result of the weekend was AC Milan and their 2-0 win over Champions League hopefuls AS Roma with Ante Rebić Hakan Çalhanoglu, putting a dent on Roma's slim chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season. Napoli and Atalanta won their games over the weekend while Sassuolo and Verona played to a 3-3 draw.

Player of the Weekend: Andrej Kramarić


The Bundesliga ended on Saturday but somebody ended his season with a banger and that was Croatian midfielder Andrej Kramarić. The Hoffenheim player ravaged Borussia Dortmund scoring four goals including a no-look penalty to rub salt into BVB's wounds. He made 41 touches, six shots (four in target) and 2 key passes. A great way to end the season.
