Wednesday's UCL Recap: Round of 16(Second Leg)

Mission Impossible Accomplished in Paris

Manchester United achieved what was impossible overturning a two deficit to go through to the quarterfinals of the Champions League defeating Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 at the Parc des Princes, 3-3 on aggregate as the Red Devils go through on away goals. Paris Saint-Germain were favourites to go through after the first leg at Old Trafford with United's injury troubles forcing Ole Gunnar Solksjær to field youngsters for the tie and Paul Pogba suspended after getting a red card in the first leg. Within two minutes in the game, United halved the deficit from Romelu Lukaku who capitalized on an error from Thilo Kehrer who made a horrible back pass. Juan Bernat equalized for the Parisians with Kliyan Mbappé finding the full-back who slotted the ball home. Lukaku scored again for United as Gianluigi Buffon was unable to tame a shot from Marcus Rashford enabling the Belgian to pounce on the rebound. In the second half, PSG had a goal disallowed as Mbappé opened up for Àngel Di Maria to score but was flagged offside. Just in the 90th minute, United were awarded a penalty after a review from VAR for a handball by Kimpembe. Rashford converted the penalty ending a remarkable game and a fantastic comeback for Manchester United as PSG fall again to familiar circumstances.

Dragons blaze past the Romans

Crazy scenes happened at the Estádio do Dragão as FC Porto went through to the quarterfinals after beating AS Roma 3-1 on the night after extra time, 4-3 on aggregate. The Portuguese champions fancied their chances despite losing the first leg at Rome and went to a great start when Tiquinho scored the opening goal to level the score on aggregate and gave Porto the advantage of away goals. However, Roma were awarded a penalty after Perotti were brought down. Daniele de Rossi scored from the spot putting the Italian side back in front before halftime. Porto pressured the Roma defense very early in the second half and were rewarded when Moussa Marega put Porto back in front and level on aggregate. Both teams were unable to find a winner forcing the game to go into extra time. Roma had fantastic chances to win the game from Edin Džeko who blazed a chance over and had another but didn't close the line. Porto were awarded a penalty late in the game with Florenzi booked for pulling back his opponent. Alex Telles scored giving Porto a 4-3 aggregate lead with only three minutes left. Porto held on and are through to the last eight for the second time in four years.
