Real Madrid sign Brahim Díaz
Real Madrid have signed Spanish midfielder Brahim Díaz from Manchester City for a reported fee of £15.5 million. The deal was concluded today with Díaz completing a medical before being presented as a Real Madrid player in the presidential box and appearing at the field of the Santiago Bernabéu.
Brahim Díaz came from the youth ranks at Manchester City where he made his first team debut in September 2016 in a EFL Cup match against Swansea City and was highly rated in the City youth setup alongside Phil Foden and Jadon Sancho. Díaz made his Premier League against Newcastle last season where he made just five times but hasn't played in the Premier League this season.
Speaking at a press conference with Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, Díaz was pleased to have completed the move and his dream of playing for Real stating, "It is the perfect Three Kings gift. My only three options that I wanted were to play for Real Madrid, to play for Real Madrid or to play for Real Madrid. I have dreamt of playing for this club since I was a boy."
Diaz also went to Instagram, thanking Manchester City for his development as a player and person saying, "Thank you to all the managers in the club, from the academy to the first team, for believing in me because they taught me not only to be a better player, but a better person."
Given a six and a half year contract, Pérez also spoke saying, "Brahim has a lot of talent and a strong character, his dream is to triumph with Real Madrid." Madrid have gone for more youth rather than the finished article from Vinícius Júnior, Alvaro Odriozola, Andrii Lunin and Federico Valverde who all came in during the summer transfer window.
