Football Weekend Recap

Stalemate in North London Derby

Arsenal came two goals down to salvage a point against North London rivals Tottenham at the Emirates with the game ending 2-2. However, both Spurs' goals were the doing of a number of errors by the Gunners. Poor positioning from Sokratis and a poor save by Bernd Leno enabled Christian Eriksen to score a tap-in in the first ten minutes and Harry Kane added a second from the penalty spot after a ridiculous tackle from Granit Xhaka in the penalty box. Before halftime, Arsenal got back in the game from Alexandre Lacazette netting a fierce shot. In the second half, Arsenal had more control in midfield which they lacked in the first and they were rewarded with an equalizer from Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang. Things got heated in the final minutes from fouls and dives but both couldn't find a winner as Spurs' poor record at the Emirates continues.

Barça drop points at Osasuna

Barcelona's indifferent start to the season continues as they drew 2-2 against Osasuna at the El Sadar. Barça were without Messi, Suárez and Dembélé, with Antonie Griezmann leading the line. Osasuna took the lead in seven minutes from a volley from Roberto Torres. It was a big moment for latest LA Masia graduate Ansu Fati who scored his first career goal to level the score in the second half and became Barcelona's youngest ever scorer in La Liga. Arthur, who also came from the bench, gave Barça the lead with a curler but Gerard Pique gave away a penalty in the 80th minute. After VAR review, the penalty was awarded and Torres scored again to level the score. Barça now have four points in their fight three games and clearly miss Messi and Suárez.

Koulibaly nets own goal in seven goal thriller

Kalidou Koulibaly would wish a hole would open for him after scoring an injury time own goal to give Juventus a 4-3 win taking away Napoli's remarkable comeback. The Old Lady went in front when Danilo scored after a counter attack led by Douglas Costa. They added a second in three minutes from Gonzalo Higuaín who skinned Koulibaly before blasting it home. This forced Carlo Ancelotti to make some changes in the second half, bringing on Hirving Lozano and Mario Rui for Lorenzo Insigne and Faouzi Ghoulam. Juventus added a third from Cristiano Ronaldo and it looked like Juve are sailing for three points. However, four minutes after, Napoli scored two goals in two minutes from Kostas Manolas and Hirving Lozano, who scored on his debut. This gave the Azurri a lot of encouragement and were able to find the equalizer when Giovanni Di Lorenzo leveled the score, silencing the Juventus Stadium. Looking like Napoli were going away with a point, they conceded a free kick in added time and Koulibaly was unable to clear the ball well, netting his own goal to end a pulsating game which Juventus were quite fortunate to get three points despite Napoli's fantastic comeback.

Union Berlin gets first win against Dortmund

FC Union Berlin got their first ever win in the Bundesliga and it was a big one, defeating potential title contenders Borussia Dortmund 3-1 at the Alte Forsterei. The hosts went in front twenty-two minutes into the game from Marius Bülter but Paco Alcácer equalized for the Black and Yellow in just three minutes. Dortmund were not as inventive as they usually are, with just two shots on target despite having 75 percent ball possession. Five minutes in the second half, Bülter scored again putting Berlin in the lead once again. In the 75th minute, Sebastian Andersson capped off a fantastic move to net the third goal for the Berlin club giving a famous win in their history and inflicting Dortmund's first defeat of the season.

Player of the Weekend: Timo Werner

RB Leipzig are the only team in the Bundesliga to have a 100 percent record and their star striker Timo Werner has started like a house on fire. The German International netted his first Bundesliga hat-trick in Leipzig's 3-1 win over Gladbach. Werner made 50 touches, 4 key passes, 3 dribbles and 4 shots (3 on target). Looks like this could be his best goalscoring season for the Bulls.
