This Weekend's Match Previews

EPL: Liverpool V Bournemouth

The title race is heating up by every week as Liverpool now drop to second in the Premier League following Manchester City's win over Everton on Wednesday. However, Liverpool have a game in hand and with be looking to get back to winning ways against Bournemouth on Saturday at Anfield. The Reds have been affected heavily with injuries to Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Giorginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson and have struggled at the back keeping just one clean sheet in their last five games in the league as they have dropped points against Leicester City and West Ham. For Bournemouth, they aren't in good form either with only one win in their last six games but have a big opportunity to get something from Liverpool as they have never beaten Liverpool at Anfield and with the Reds dropping points recently, they could inflict more doubt on Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool's chances for the Premier League.

Manchester City V Chelsea

City are back at the top of the table after their 2-0 win against Everton and will be going for nine points in nine when they face Chelsea on Sunday at the Etihad. Pep's side look back to full gear with everyone returning from injury bar Benjamin Mendy. The defending champions have been sweeping teams aside since the turn of the year and will be looking to add more pressure on their title rivals. They will be facing Chelsea who Pep have struggled losing more games against Chelsea than any other team since he came to City. Chelsea, on the other hand, have to extend the distance between them and Manchester United and Arsenal for the final Champions League spot for next season. Chelsea now have their cutting edge upfront in Gonzalo Higuaín but with how reliant they are on Eden Hazard, the Blues will be hoping that the Belgian can inspire them to victory.

La Liga: Atlético Madrid V Real Madrid

Real Madrid have changed since their 5-1 defeat Barcelona in October picking up form since then as they are now third in the table but they are eight points behind Barcelona and two points behind city rivals Atlético Madrid, who they can jump above with victory at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday. Madrid have improved but still have their issues with Isco losing his place in the team since Santiago Solari was appointed and Gareth Bale still struggling with injury and Brazilian youngster Vinicius Jr now preferred over the Welshman. Atlético failed to capitalize on Barcelona dropping points, losing to Real Betis and are six points behind them. If there's something that have hurt Atleti's chances, it's scoring goals. Only Antonie Griezmann have netted double digits in the league with little productivity coming from Diego Costa, Thomas Lemar and Àngel Correa. New signing Àlvaro Morata will be playing against his former club and Atléti will be hoping that he could take the goalscoring burden of Griezmann and keep their title hopes alive.

Bundesliga: RB Leipzig V Eintracht Frankfurt

A game between two of the most exciting teams in the Bundesliga this season in the fight for the 4th placed spot this season with Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach well over both Leipzig and Frankfurt. Leipzig have the joint best defence in the Bundesliga conceding 18 goals, keeping nine clean sheets and have lost just one game at home this season. They also have their weapons upfront in Timo Werner, who has been linked with several teams from the past January window, and Yussuf Poulsen scoring 21 goals between them and 109 shots. However, Leipzig's defence will be facing a stern test against arguably the league's most potent attack in Eintracht Frankfurt. They have scored 40 goals this season with 80% of their goals coming from their front three of Luka Jovic, Sébastian Haller and Ante Rebić with Jovic the top goalscorer in the Bundesliga with 14 and Haller getting 8 assists. They held Dortmund to a 1-1 last week and could cut the gap to two points should they beat Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena on Saturday.
